I just visited Wayne County, PA this weekend. It's near what Pennsylvania calls "Delaware State Forest". We had to drive through it to get to Lake Wallenpaupack. It's so thick, there is no cell phone reception for miles. Beautiful.
This area is under the "watchful eye" of the Delaware River Basin Commission. Who was quoted as describing the water in this area of Pennsylvania "pristine". Calling it "special protection waters" in 1992.
I think the title of this article should have been "Clean Water Folks Halt Attempt for New Drilling Rules". A scheduled protest, at this meeting caused DRBC cancel it with little comment.
By hampering the Commission's attempt to make "drilling rules", they have protected their "Pristine Waters" from the pillaging hordes of the Gas & Oil companies for a little longer.
Even, if they cannot keep it from happening, they have at least tried. There are places like this all along the Delaware River Basin. Hope more folks are as "active".
This is a November 2011 article, but the drilling moratorium is still in place.
